Whether it is Newton recalculating the abacus into calculus, and substituting the integer for the letter, or Dante writing his fiery inferno beyond the palace walls, excommunicated from the state. Whether it is Jesus finding his final fate by the jury, or Galileo reconsideirng humanities place amongst the stars, world reformers, leaders, scientists and religious genius are all held together by one thing, faith. Faith in their own perceptions and faith in the stars and they often pay the highest price for their faith. We persecute those who stand at the edge of conventional knowledge, prophets of time and space, that is why I have chosen to take the seal of the persecution and public condemnations of the ritualsied act of the Auto-da-fé and repurposed its meaning to mean the neccesary sacrifice the faithful one must offer themselves to the world. They know their fate and they tread on anyway, in spite. All prophets and martyrs of all ages. The worlds deepest faith is written in the hearts of its heretics and mystics, the deepest peoples of all ages and they will not renounce their images of the world in spite of the fate adhering to ones faith brings with it. It is then the heretic as saint. The image I paint of the world. The heretic as the most faithful. As the exemplar of the truly religious spirit par excellence. This is Auto-da-fé.
